Taking Care of Your Christmas Tree

Displaying your Christmas Tree

Once you've chosen the Perfect Christmas Tree you'll have to decide whether you will be setting the tree up as soon as you get home, or if there are still things you need to do.

Storing your Christmas Tree

If you aren't going to be putting up your tree up right away you'll want to keep it protected from the sun and the wind.

How to setup your Christmas Tree

Before you put your tree in it's stand you'll want to make a 1/4 – 1 inch cut across the base of the trunk(doing this helps the tree absorb water better and last longer). You then place your tree in a stand that holds a gallon of water or more. The tree may absorb between 2 pints and a gallon of water per day, so make sure that you frequently check how much water is left. It is very important that the water level doesn't get low because if it gets too low dried sap will form over the cut stump in three to six hours, which greatly reduces the water absorbtion of the tree. Make sure that your tree isn't near anything heated and it's always a good idea to test your lights before you put them on the tree. Also be sure to always unplug the lights before you go to bed or leave the house.
